In order to have a working e-mail system, you must install and configure an SMTP server/MTA, and an MDA. MDAs generally come in the form of POP and IMAP servers. POP stands for Post Office Protocol, and the POP servers that you will see most often are, in fact, POP3 servers. POP3 is the third revision of the POP protocol. IMAP stands for Internet Message Access Protocol and is newer than the POP protocol. Most decent MDAs support both POP and IMAP protocols, although some can be configured to use one but not the other. The type of mail clients you re using determines the protocol that you must use. The MDA covered in this chapter, Dovecot, supports both protocols; if you have any question as to which you should use, you can always configure it to use both. As a matter of general procedure, the best way to deal with the multiple servers required for a functioning e-mail system is to take it one step at a time. That is, get one thing working before you move on to the next. This is the approach for the remainder of this chapter: You install and configure one component, test it in order to make sure it s working, and then move on to the next.

Suppose that the immersed elastic structure consists of a continuous collection of elastic bers, where the material coordinates (q, r, s) have been chosen so that a xed value of the pair (q, r) labels a particular ber for all time Let denote the unit tangent vector in the ber direction, so that for this choice of curvilinear coordinates, X/ s (76) = | X/ s| Since the bers are elastic, the ber tension T (such that T dq dr ds is the force transmitted by the bundle of bers dq dr) is related to the ber strain, which is determined by | X/ s| The ber tension can be expressed by a generalized, time-dependent Hooke s law of the form T = (| X/ s| ; q, r, s, t) (77).

Picture archiving and communication system (PACS) is a system integration of both patient work ow and diagnostic components and procedures. A thorough understanding of radiology work ow should allow ef cient system integration, and hence a better PACS design for the radiology department and the hospital operation. Radiology work ow can vary from department to department and hospital to hospital. For these reasons work ow analysis is the rst step for PACS design and implementation. Figure 3.1 shows a generic radiology work ow before PACS. Among the 14 steps, steps 4, 8, 9, 10, 12, and 14 are no longer needed in the PACS operation, and this renders a more ef cient radiology work ow. 1. New patient arrives at hospital for radiological examination (exam). 2. Patient registers in Radiology area. If the patient is new, patient is registered in the Hospital Information System (HIS). 3. Exam ordered at Radiology Information System (RIS) upon arrival at Radiology registration desk. Exam accession number is automatically assigned, and a requisition is printed.

The attributes under the Type Style menu are physically assigned to the characters to which you apply them. When you make a word bold, it will definitely be drawn bold by any user s browser. This provides absolute control over your text. Bear in mind, though, that although you know the font will be rendered in bold, unless you re using a style sheet, you still cannot be certain what size your viewers will see. Figure 8-16 shows the physical styles. The physical styles shown in Figure 8-16 are as follows: Plain Text is text, plain and simple, with no formatting. After you ve changed your text, you can remove formatting from your text by first selecting the text and then choosing Type Style Plain Text or pressing Shift-Option-P (Mac) or Shift+Control+P (Windows).
